FREITAS READY TO TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS

(INSIDE BOXING)
WBA super-featherweight champ Acelino "Popo" Freitas has this unfriendly habit of knocking guys on their butts shortly after he shakes their hand and gives them a friendly nod. It's kind of a ritual with Freitas, a way of cutting his workday short so he can spend more quality time with his wife.
Freitas (31-0, 29 KOs), who comes from Brazil where he's already considered a national treasure, started his career with 29 straight knockouts, 22 of those fights ending inside three rounds. Those are "early" Mike Tyson numbers and would be pretty impressive if you were talking about heavyweights. It's almost unheard of when you're talking about guys who weigh 130 pounds.

WBC PRESIDENT FILES LAWSUITS AS RESULT OF INJURIES ACQUIRED DURING THE TYSON/LEWIS PRESS CONFERENCE FIASCO

(INSIDE BOXING)
From WBC President Jose Sulaiman: August 5, 2002.
"The practice of active litigation is not customary nor a part of the idiosyncrasy of the society where I was born and live, Mexico, and I have never personally in my life presented a lawsuit against anybody, for any reason whatever.
"However, my life has been impacted dramatically since I was injured during the physical confrontation between boxing heavyweight world champion Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson last January in New York, where I was abandoned by all participating parties on the stage of the theatre, waiting for an ambulance that never arrived: with no concern or precaution to medically or spiritually help the person who was the President of the WBC, the organization that was an important factor for their championship bout to take place, and thus, I have felt a blast of disrespect against my pride and dignity as a human being.

HEAVYWEIGHT WILLIAMSON READY TO
'TAKE NEXT STEP' AFTER IMPRESSIVE KO WIN

DaVarryl Williamson may pack the most potent punch in boxing "pound-for-pound." That seems an odd claim considering Williamson is a heavyweight. But at 211 pounds he's a small heavyweight, although one with inordinate power.
The Cedric Kushner Promotions heavyweight proved that fact once again last week when he stopped huge and sturdy Corey Sanders with one right hand to the head late in the fifth round of their nationally televised main event at the Mountaineer Race Track & Gaming Resort in Chester, W. Va.
It's the 12th straight knockout and 14th straight win for the lanky, 6-foot-4-inch Williamson, who boasts a record of 17-1 with 16 knockouts. "DaVarryl's sensational victory justifies the confidence CKP has in him," said Cedric Kushner.
