(July 16, 2003) - The "Emerald City Assassin" Kenny Ellis (30-4-2 19KOs) moves a step closer to a world title fight. In the July 2003 WBO rankings Ellis made his way into the top three. In June he was ranked 4th, but his 4th round KO of Antoine Robinson (22-6) on May 31st at the Emerald Queen Casino was the push he'd been waiting for that advanced him into 3rd.

LONDON (July 18, 2003) - In an excellent match from start to finish, undefeated welterweight David Barnes captured the vacant British welterweight title with a disputed 12-round decision over British Masters 154-pound champion Jimmy Vincent Thursday on "ShoBox: The New Generation" on SHOWTIME.

(July 16, 2003) - July 19th 2003 at 7:30pm, the next thrilling Battle at the Boat will take place at the Emerald Queen Casino. The NABA Lightweight Title will be on the line, as "Irish" Martin O'Malley (21-1-0, 14KOs) of Seattle, Washington will be fighting Luis "El Puma" Villalta (29-4-1, 25KOs) from Lima, Peru. Training camp is going well for both fighters, which only adds to the suspense of the night to come.

Billy Douglas, younger brother of former heavyweight champion James Buster Douglas, will face his toughest challenge ever on July 19th at the Franklin county fairgrounds. when Douglas 4-0-3 will face Chad Vancykle 12-1-6 in Columbus, Ohio both fighters' hometown. Douglas says "I can't understand why Chad wants this fight it's bad for his career because I will knock him out" There was no comment from the Vancykle camp exept for that they feel they can win against Douglas.Vonzell Johnson Who trains Douglas simply said "Bill is ready,and as long as Chad shows up, we will win." NEW YORK (July 16, 2003) - In a sensational match-up featuring two of boxing's most talented fighters, former 130-pound world champions Diego "Chico" Corrales and Joel Casamayor will collide on the SHOWTIME Pay Per View fight card Oct. 4 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The announcement was made today by Jay Larkin, Senior Vice President, Sports and Event Programming, Showtime Networks, and promoter Dan Goossen of Goossen Tutor Promotions.
