IT'S NOT SAINT NICK FOR AUDLEY HARRISON;
IT'S BRIAN NIX!

OLYMPIC HEAVYWEIGHT GOLD MEDALIST CLOSES OUT 2003 WITH 10 ROUND MATCH-UP AGAINST DURABLE NIX ON ESPN2 FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT DECEMBER 12;

Venue Changes To Edgewater Casino in Laughlin, Nevada

LONDON, England (December 1, 2003) - Good old Saint Nick won't be coming early for Olympic heavyweight gold medallist Audley Harrison (13-0, 9KOs;) but durable and ready to go Brian Nix (18-11, 3KOs) will be, as he has agreed to be Harrison's next and last opponent for the 2003 boxing year. The two will meet Friday, December 12, in a ten round contest—the first of Harrison's career - on ESPN Friday Night Fights on December 12. The match will appear as a special attraction on the Tokunbo Olajide vs. Larry Marks fightcard.

The show will air live that evening for US fans and the BBC will broadcast on the BBC Grandstand Saturday December 13 in the afternoon.

Originally set for Detroit, Michigan the show has now been moved to the Edgewater Casino in Laughlin, Nevada, not far from Las Vegas, where Harrison has been training with more experienced heavyweights in the the likes of former title contender Vaughn Bean and rugged Willie Chapman. "The sparring has been tremendous for me to continue to gain experience and technique," said Harrison. "With a guy like Nix, you need to know some of the old-school ways of boxing to out hustle and counter attack his already proven ring knowledge and ability."

Nix is no easy opponent for Harrison. He is a durable, cagey veteran who has more experience than the up and coming Harrison and who is know to survive in to the late rounds against top opponents. His best opponents and performances to date have been a win over former heavyweight champion Tim Witherspoon in March of this year and a 7th round TKO lost to former heavyweight contender Andrew Golota. "Nix is no push over and I expect him to be able to take me in to the later rounds," said Harrison. "This is a great way to finish the year and another opportunity to learn one more thing as I continue my professional career."
