Fighters spend a large part of their waking hours in the gym, preparing to enter the ring. Boxing training can be grueling, demanding, and yet rewarding. You want the time spent working out to pay off in the end and that is why it is important to dress for success.

Although some might not think that the boxing training apparel you wear has any real bearing on your success, it absolutely does. Training in the right clothes can enhance your productivity and your ultimate performance. Certain types of clothing, such as compression gear and quick-drying athletic wear do impact the quality of your workout session.

Moisture-wicking materials, such as polyester and cotton/poly blends help keep you drier throughout your training exercises. This style of boxing training apparel allows you to feel fresher and less weighted-down with sweat-drenched clothing.

Equally important is what type of boxing competition apparel you fight in. Like your training wear, your boxing competition apparel should also be constructed of similar sweat-resistant materials. This will help you stay lighter on your feet and feel less weighed down overall.

Your boxing competition apparel should also be sized accurately. You do not want to be competing in an oversized, baggy uniform. Although some athletes prefer more loosely fitting clothing, you should reconsider that when it comes to the apparel you compete in. Snugger, form-fitted competition wear is always a better way to go. It tends to make you feel more aerodynamic and efficient. More exact fitting apparel also reduces extraneous movement and provides a more efficient appearance to judges and officials.

Looks are not always the most important attribute, but when it affects performance and how you show yourself, it should be a consideration. If your goal is to win, as it should be, you want to weigh every advantage on your side. That even means looking the part of a polished, properly prepared, well-equipped, best-dressed fighter that is in the ring.
