Sauna Suits

The use of sauna suits has become a staple in boxing training because they can enhance any training routine by helping a fighter warm up faster and “work up a sweat” more easily. They are also beneficial in helping a fighter to sweat more and cut water weight more quickly, which improves the muscle recovery process.

Suiting up in your own personal, portable sauna can translate into more effective workouts, performed at a greater intensity.

Wearing a sauna suit while training can help a fighter to cut water weight, warm-up faster, and sustain a sweat for a longer period. A sweat suit is also a good way to rid your body of toxins, open clogged pores, and increase blood flow.

Some styles are designed to cover your entire body, arms, legs, and even have a hood to cover your head. That type of sauna suit, as opposed to other sweat suits that leave your extremities exposed, are the most intense. They should be used for a limited amount of time, and not on a daily basis. When used too often, a fighter can become overheated or dehydrated.

As important as it is to cut and ultimately make weight, it is equally as important to be safe and allow your body to do what it does naturally. A sweat suit is a fantastic way to give your body an assist, by raising the body temperature quickly and at an intensity to lose any remaining pounds of water weight. Rubber, vinyl, and nylon sauna suits are the most popular, but any type of sweat suit that retains heat will all have similar benefits.

It’s also important to replenish fluids after using a sweat suit and always take time to cool down after it has been removed. A lot of salt and necessary nutrients get flushed out by using a sauna suit and need to be replaced after an extensive work out.

Sauna suits are a quick solution to water weight loss but should not be used too close to fight time because you don’t want to get into the ring feeling weak, dehydrated, or depleted of energy and the necessary vitamins and minerals that help you perform at your best.
