Youth boxing is one of the absolute best activities for improving self-esteem, gaining confidence, and building character. It tests its participants in ways that other sports simply do not. Its demanding nature produces enormous benefits but also requires additional precautions in approach and in choosing youth boxing gear.

One of the most important pieces of gear to consider when pursuing the sport is kids boxing gloves. There are numerous factors to look for in selecting the best boxing gloves for kids.

One of the most important criteria to consider is correct fit. You don’t want your kids boxing gloves to be too big or they will likely develop improper technique. Trying to punch correctly with oversized gloves is difficult to do because bulky boxing gloves for kids interferes with proper hand placement and accurate punching technique.

Since kid’s bones aren’t as strong as most adults and considering that they are still developing, having good padding is another critical element. Kids boxing gloves should be properly designed with a smaller hand compartment, contain softer, open cell foam, and be about 75-100% larger than their fist.

Getting the right gear for any beginning boxer is vitally important, but especially when dealing with kids. You want their introduction and experience in the sport to be a positive one. If they stick with it and ultimately begin to compete, they will have many opportunities to learn discipline, gain self-esteem, and develop the necessary skills to defend themselves properly. If they have the right gear from the very start, their chance of succeeding later is much greater. Since their gloves are the first piece of equipment they need when they begin, it is the most important thing to get right.

The correct size, proportion, and padding will allow younger athletes to learn the right way, with the right tools, develop properly and perform at their absolute best.

We do allow you to return gloves within a certain period of time and depending on how much they’ve been used. Here is a link to our returns page.

We do offer youth sparring gloves. Any of our youth training gloves are acceptable. We recommend asking your kids to try them of to see if they fit well. Always make sure to wrap their hands before letting them use their boxing gloves.
